Very strong thermals and wave.
Brian B. flew to Victorville and back to Crystal.
Mike K. flew to Bartow, came back, and climbed to 17,999 feet before landing at 6pm.

Did you know that the Crystalaire Country Club rents lodges to glider pilots? You get a pass to use the clubhouse with dinners served. About $55 and up. It's only 2 miles away.

The concept is:
* The competition will be ongoing, with monthly winners based on the standard handicap.
* There will be three classes: student, intermediate, and advanced.
* Place yourself in any class you wish, but if you win, you move up a class from then on.
* Fly as often as you like, but declare each flight in advance (out & return or circuit) and get credit for TOTAL HANDICAPPED mileage on your best flight of any month - but ONLY if you Return to Crystal.
* In the event of a tie, the fastest speed wins
* Use any technology you like, but verification is entirely on the honor system.
* There will be no registration hassles - just show up & FLY.
