14,000 feet at Cache Pk is enough to allow a straight glide all the way to Boomer Ridge near Inyokern, but we might leave Cache as low as 10,000' to work our way north. Kelso Valley is a beautiful ranch far from civilization - and it has a landing strip.
The series of small ridges on course usually offers ample lift, or maybe even a gradual climb while cruising on the shearline.
