In June of 2003 Frank Donnelly (Dr. D) had his Callair tow plane up at Lone Pine for ten days, and we eagerly took the opportunity to soar with our friends and students out of this most special place.  After viewing our gallery of photographs from that short trip, you'll see why we're looking forward to another safari in 2005.
We flew up there with Dave Norinsky, a new Crystal Squadron member seeing this terrain for the first time, while his wife Lynn drove the trailer.  (Turns out we only needed it to haul oxygen bottles, but better to have it just in case.)  Then, two weekends later, we flew home with Christian Mackin while Paul Quick graciously drove the trailer.  (Earlier that week Paul had enjoyed a diamond distance out and return flight, as well.)
Out of Lone Pine we offered half day or full day flights, and it seems everybody got just what they wanted - except those who inquired too late and didn't get to go…
Among our half day fliers were Steve Millang, Britton Bluedorn, Cheryl and Gill Scott, and Chuck Schroeder (who had a 270 mile triangle with Tonopah as a far turnpoint - after starting at 2:30 PM).  Cliff Rose brought his best camera and shot tons of film as we toured the Sierras on a day with enough cumulus to provide shade and limit unwanted reflections inside the canopy.  And we also made the flight with Ruth Cook that is detailed in our section entitled STORIES  (My Favorite Flight).
