A low save over flat ground may be in order, within gliding range of either Adelanto, Krey field, or Brian Ranch, but if we fly well enough, a strong climb is almost certain.  There are several other landing strips in this part of the Antelope Valley, but some are too narrow and the two best looking ones are
OFF LIMITS.
  Therefore, visual familiarity east of CRYSTAL can reduce the tension prior to that last climb - and increase confidence if a low save does become necessary.  From this area between Adelanto and Black Butte,  we usually get high enough to reach CRYSTAL long before topping out - or simply continue climbing and look for more adventure in some other direction...
