Hesperia is behind us now, & we're down to around 8000'. The hills below our nose are low, but rising, and we may or may not find lift before reaching the RED STAR.
Worst case, we could give up and glide toward the little airfield at Rabbit Dry Lake, with good chance of a low save over the ridge there, to the left of this picture.
But if our altitude is sufficient we continue on to the RED STAR and climb up the other side of that ridge.
